The Towi begins high on the Cambrian mountains, being joined by some sixty tributaries. The largest is the river Camddwr which runs into Llyn Brianne.
Llyn Brianne is a regulatory reservoir built in 1972 it covers 530 acres of land. It supplements flows in Towi which is also abstracted some 40 miles downstream at Nantgaredig.

descends steeply through Rhandirmwyn and Cilycwm before passing Llandovery and the beginning of the flood plain She then levels off and runs through to Llanwrda, Llangadog and Llandeilo. Below Llandeilo, she runs through Dinefwr, Golden Grove and Dryslwyn before reaching Llanarthne, Llanegwad and
Nantgaredig where she meets the Cothi. She then runs through to White Mill and Capel Dewi and Llangunnor before running past Abergwily and into Carmarthen town and down to the estuary.
The club has some 8 beats ranging from Hynllys Fach and Pontoon Bridge stretch up above Llandovery down to the Pump House just off the tide below Caple Dewi.
The club has also three beats on one of the Towi`s major tributaries
the Cothi
In addition the club has very good waters below Alltcarfan Bridge on the Teifi including the famous gorge and a stretch of the Gwendraeth near Kidwelly.
